It’s time for another rivalry-filled week as South Dakota’s two Division I basketball programs square off.
In the first meetings between the programs, the South Dakota State University women’s team and University of South Dakota men’s team came out victorious, both of the winners held home-court advantages.
Now, the Jackrabbit men are set to host the Coyotes are 7:05 p.m. Thursday at Frost Arena in Brookings, while the USD women host SDSU at 7 p.m. today in Vermillion.
The SDSU men (16-6, 7-2 Summit) are 9-0 at home this season and are led by Nate Wolters, who is averaging 21 points per game. Jordan Dykstra averages 12.8 points per game and Tony Fiegen averages 10.5 points per game.
The Coyotes (8-13, 4-5 Summit) also have three players averaging in double-digit scoring figures. Juevol Myles leads the way with 16 point per game, Trevor Gruis averages 11.6 points per game and Brandon Bos has 10.5 points per game.
On the women’s side, SDSU and USD (11-10, 6-2 Summit) are the top two teams in the Summit League.
Ashley Eide leads the Jackrabbits (17-6, 7-1 Summit) in scoring with 14.2 points per game. Megan Waytashek is averaging 13.7 points per game.
For the Coyotes, Nicole Seekamp leads in scoring with 14.6 points per game and Tempestt Wilson and Polly Harrington both average 12 points per game this season.
