Historian to tell genealogists 'Secrets to Busting through Brick Walls'

A trained historian and researcher will speak during the Mitchell Area Genealogical Society’s February meeting.

A trained historian and researcher will speak during the Mitchell Area Genealogical Society’s February meeting.

The group will hold its business meeting from 5:30 to 6:45 p.m. Monday at the Carnegie Resource Center, 119 W. Third Ave.

The public is invited to the program starting at 7 p.m. It’s titled “Secrets to Busting through Brick Walls” and will be presented by Margaret (Marti) Bobertz, of Platte. She is an avid genealogist and family history researcher who has been fascinated with the field since childhood.

Bobertz has historical and genealogical research experience, including courthouse, libraries, cemeteries, and on the Internet, including daily use of Ancestry.com, Fold3 and AmericanAncestors.org.

Bobertz has been the historian of the South Dakota Society of Mayflower Descendants from 1996 to the present and the North Dakota Society of Mayflower Descendants from 2005 to the present.

The public is welcome to attend the free presentation.
