An American flag flaps wildly in the wind Thursday afternoon in front of the Knights of Columbus building in Mitchell as wind gusts above 30 mph blew into the region. Thursday’s high temperature in Mitchell was 13 degrees and the low was 2 degrees below zero, according to weather reports. Strong winds and cold temperatures brought wind chills to 20 degrees below zero in Mitchell Thursday, but a warm-up is expected to start today.
