MACOMB, Ill. — The University of South Dakota women’s basketball team got its second straight conference victory Thursday.

The Coyotes defeated Western Illinois 63-60 to earn their 10th victory of the season.

Lisa Loeffler scored 12 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to record a double-double for USD.

Nicole Seekamp led the Coyotes in scoring with 13 points; Tempestt Wilson also scored 12 points.

Western Illinois was led by Ashley Luke who scored 19 points and brought down eight rebounds.

The Coyotes continue their road trip Saturday when they face IUPUI in Indianapolis, Ind.

USD men fall to Nebraska-Omaha

VERMILLION (AP) — Justin Simmons scored 26 points, including five 3-pointers, to pace Nebraska-Omaha to a 95-90 victory over South Dakota on Thursday night.

Simmons scored 16 points in the second half to allow Nebraska-Omaha (6-16, 3-6 Summit) to turn away comeback attempts by South Dakota (8-13, 4-5).

Juevol Myles scored 26 points for South Dakota. Brandon Bos scored 16 points, Steve Tecker scored 14 and Trevor Gruis scored 13.

DWU JV team beats Dordt 73-68

Dakota Wesleyan’s men’s junior varsity basketball team got its fifth win of the season Thursday.

The Tigers beat Dordt College 73-68 at the Christen Family Recreation/Wellness Center.

Trae Bergh led DWU in scoring with 22 points, Jade Miller added 19 and Thomas Geraets chipped in with 12.

Dakota Wesleyan (5-6) takes on Presentation College Thursday in Aberdeen.
