Melt water splashes into a puddle Friday afternoon in an alley behind Main Street in Mitchell. Friday’s high of 45 caused a large amount of snow to melt, but it was short of tying the all-time record for the warmest Jan. 18 in Mitchell. That mark, 54, was set in 1944.
