Wesley C. Dewey, 77, Grand Island, Neb., died Friday, Jan. 18, 2013, at Wedgewood Care Center, Grand Island.
Wesley C. Dewey, 77, Grand Island, Neb., died Friday, Jan. 18, 2013, at Wedgewood Care Center, Grand Island.
He was born on July 17, 1935.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Peace Lutheran Church, Grand Island, with the Rev. Michael Reiners officiating. Burial will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Cairo, Neb.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Apfel Funeral Home, Grand Island.
Wesley Dewey was born at Jamestown, N.D., the son of Harold and Emma ( Holweg ) Dewey.
He grew up in Jamestown area and received his education at a rural school in North Dakota.
He entered the U.S. Army in 1953 and served until 1956, when he received his honorable discharge.
He was united in marriage to Alice Denke on June 4, 1960, at Wall.
The couple made their home in various places in Nebraska and South Dakota.
While in Nebraska he was employed at New Holland, and later at Rozum Motor Company in Mitchell.
He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Mitchell; and Peace Lutheran Church in Grand Island.
His hobbies included woodworking, yard work and tinkering with cars.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law: Barbara and Bill Brandt; and Jeanne and Roger Buck, all of Grand Island; and grandchildren: Allen and Rachel Buck, Albion, Neb.; and Brodrick Brandt, Grand Island.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Emma Dewey; and his wife, Alice Dewey.
Memorials are suggested to Trinity Lutheran School and Heartland Lutheran High School.
