SIOUX FALLS — A 23-year-old man accused of fatally shooting his uncle and wounding another relative Nov. 27 at a trailer home near Marty on Yankton Sioux tribal land pleaded not guilty Thursday to all the charges against him.
Dancing Bull Fischer appeared in a U.S. district courtroom in Sioux Falls and pleaded not guilty to a Jan. 8 indictment charging him with one count of second-degree murder, one count of assault with intent to commit murder and two counts of discharging a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence.
Fischer is accused of killing 47-year-old Tony Fischer Sr. and shooting Dominic Fischer, whose age has not been disclosed.
An affidavit by Federal Bureau of Investigation Special Agent Michael Melcher alleges Fischer used an assault rifle in the shooting.
Fischer could be sentenced to life in prison if convicted. He remains in detention to await his next court appearance.
