HASTINGS, Neb. — The Dakota Wesleyan University wrestling team got its fifth dual victory of the season Wednesday night.
The 14th-ranked Tigers defeated Great Plains Athletic Conference foe Hastings College 27-16.
Hastings held a 12-9 lead after the first six matches of the dual. But Dakota Wesleyan stormed back winning the final four matches of the meet, highlighted by two wins by fall and a major decision.
DWU’s Tyler Sarringar kicked off the rally by pinning Hastings’ Tim Rice in a 174-pound match, while Eric Gruis sealed the victory by pinning Pat Mattfeld in a heavyweight match.
The Tigers will return to the mat 9 a.m. Saturday in the Dickinson Open in Dickinson, N.D.

IPFW beats South Dakota men 62-60
FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP) — Isaiah McCray’s two free throws with 13 seconds left turned out to be the winning points in IPFW’s 62-60 victory over South Dakota on Thursday night.
Luis Jacobo added 13 and Joe Edwards had 12. Trevor Gruis scored 15 points for South Dakota.
SDSU knocks off W. Illinois 59-53
MACOMB, Ill. (AP) — Nate Wolters scored 22 points and surpassed the 2,000-point mark for his career, helping South Dakota State snap Western Illinois’ 11-game winning streak and hand the Leathernecks their first Summit League loss of the season with a 59-53 victory Thursday night.
Wolters, the Jackrabbits’ all-time leading scorer, now has 2,010 points. He also had six assists, five rebounds and three steals Thursday.
Jordan Dykstra added 12 points and Chad White had 10 points and nine rebounds for South Dakota State (14-6, 5-2 Summit).
USD gets five scorers in double figures to beat Fort Wayne 82-51

VERMILLION — Three University of South Dakota women’s basketball players scored in double figures to help lift the Coyotes to a 82-51 victory over Fort Wayne.
Nicole Seekamp scored a team-high 18 points to go along with six rebounds. Polly Harrington shot 7-of-9 from the field to score 16 points, Tempestt Wilson added 15 and Alexis Yackley had 10 assists for the Coyotes
USD shot 53 percent from the field and outrebounded Fort Wayne 43-22.
Amanda Hyde led Fort Wayne in scoring with a game-high 20 points. Stefanie Mauk added 11 and was the only other Mastodon to reach double figures.
The Coyotes (8-10, 3-2) hit the court again at 2 p.m. Saturday against Oakland University at the DakotaDome in Vermillion.
SDSU women beat Western Illinois for 8th straight win

BROOKINGS — The South Dakota State women’s basketball team has now won eight games in a row.
The Jackrabbits’ latest victim was Summit League foe Western Illinois. The Jacks defeated Western Illinois 86-51.
SDSU’s Ashley Eide led all scorers with 16 points on 7-of-12 shooting, Megan Waytashek had 15 points, and Megan Stuart added 10.
As a team, the Jackrabbits were 32-of-63 from the field and 9-of-22 from behind the arc.
Western Illionois (9-8, 2-3) was led by Ashley Luke, who scored 13 points on 6-of-7 shooting.
SDSU is now 14-5 on the season and 6-0 in the Summit League. The Jackrabbits host to IUPUI 4 p.m. Saturday at Frost Arena in Brookings.
