Zimmerman approved to serve as head of VA department
PIERRE — Larry Zimmerman, of Rapid City, was confirmed Tuesday to serve as the state’s secretary of veterans affairs.
PIERRE — Larry Zimmerman, of Rapid City, was confirmed Tuesday to serve as the state’s secretary of veterans affairs.
He received the state Senate’s 35-0 approval. Zimmerman was the top enlisted man in the South Dakota National Guard until his retirement earlier this month. He now has the responsibility for the new department created by Gov. Dennis Daugaard. Senate Democratic leader Jason Frerichs, of Wilmot, said Zimmerman is “extremely qualified.”
