A gang war is brewing … can another St. Valentine’s Day Massacre be avoided?

Join the members of the South Side Gangsters and the Northern Chicago Mob Outfit at their favorite speakeasy joint, the Grand Gatsby (Dakota Discovery Museum). Reservations are being accepted for the evenings of Feb. 8, 9 or 16. Every guest plays a part in this murder mystery. They might be the murderer, or even the victim.

At the height of prohibition in 1920s Chicago, two ruthless crime leaders, Hal Sapone and Beanie O’Dannon, reached a mutual agreement to share their bootlegging empires. The former rival gangs were to pull together resources and work together in their criminal endeavors, but it was only a matter of time before one side or the other reneged on the deal. At the height of the festivities, to everybody’s horror, one of the guests at the speakeasy was murdered. Can the rival mob bosses persuade their gangs to cooperate to catch the killer and avoid another St. Valentine’s Day Massacre?

Tickets are $40 each, and seating is limited. Costumes are optional but encouraged. Enjoy appetizers, a stuffed pork chop dinner, dessert and complimentary beverages. The event begins at 6:30 each evening.

Guests may take their invitation to Einstein’s Costume on Main Street and receive a discount on a costume selection of $35 or more.

Stop in at the Dakota Discovery Museum, 1300 McGovern Ave., or call (605) 996-2122 to reserve a ticket to the event. Proceeds benefit the museum.

Current museum hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday. The museum is closed on Sunday and Monday.
