Avera Brady employee accused of stealing from nursing home residents

A Mitchell woman was arrested Jan. 8 for allegedly stealing $980 worth of jewelry from residents at Avera Brady Health and Rehab.

A Mitchell woman was arrested Jan. 8 for allegedly stealing $980 worth of jewelry from residents at Avera Brady Health and Rehab, a nursing home in Mitchell.

Tealai Marie Munoz, 22, is charged with first-degree petty theft and faces a maximum of one year in jail and a $2,000 fine if convicted of the misdemeanor.

Munoz is accused of stealing three rings, worth a total of $980, from two residents at Avera Brady Health and Rehab, a Mitchell nursing home, a police affidavit says. Munoz was an employee at the nursing home at the time of the thefts, which are alleged to have happened in September.

Munoz is scheduled to be in court later this month.
