New judge sworn in for SD’s Second Circuit

Mark Salter was sworn in as the 35th judge in the Second Judicial Circuit on Friday.

SIOUX FALLS (AP) — A new judge has been sworn in to the Second Judicial Circuit serving Lincoln and Minnehaha counties.

KELO-TV reported Mark Salter was sworn in as the 35th judge in the Second Judicial Circuit on Friday.

Salter replaces William J. Srstka , who is retiring.

Salter has worked at the U.S. Attorney’s Office since 2004. He has been the chief of the office’s appellate division since 2009. Before that, he worked at a private practice in civil and business law. Salter also is a veteran of the U.S. Navy.

Salter said he is grateful for the opportunity.
