GLAD YOU ASKED: What's up with old, empty building on road into Chamberlain?
Q. There’s an old, empty and deteriorating eyesore of a building on the side of the highway headed into Chamberlain. It’s been there for years. What is it, why is it there, and why doesn’t the city do something about it?

A. The building is the former home of an A&W restaurant and used to be located nearer to the Missouri River and Interstate 90’s exit 263, according to Chamberlain City Engineer Greg Powell.
After the restaurant closed, the building was moved to its current location eight to 10 years ago to make room for an Avera clinic, Powell said. The current owners still have plans to develop or market the property and do plan to make some improvements to the building, he added.
