Shooting death in Rapid City treated as homicide

RAPID CITY (AP) — Authorities are investigating the shooting death of a male found in a motel parking lot in Rapid City as a homicide.

City police and the Pennington County Sheriff's Office say the victim was pronounced dead at the scene at the South Dakota Rose Inn shortly after 7 p.m. Monday.

Police Capt. Doug Thrash says authorities know little about the victim and did not immediately identify a suspect.
