Hawks' Bunger scores 1,000th career point in win over Eagles
CANISTOTA — Senior forward Cody Bunger knocked down a 3-pointer at the end of the second quarter for the Canistota boys’ high school basketball team, helping him to 1,000 career points in a 72-41 win over Mitchell Christian Monday.

Bunger needed 12 points going into the game for the mark, but he finished with a team-high 20. Boone DeKramer had 18 points, Jason Van Winkle had 12 and Tyler Decker added 10 for the Hawks, who were 30-of-57 from the field. Van Winkle and Decker each added eight rebounds.
Mitchell Christian, which was 16-of-41 from the field, was led by Aaron Lemon’s 18 points. Adam Rasmussen had 12 points and a team-high eight rebounds.
Canistota (6-0) hosts Gayville-Volin today, while Mitchell Christian (2-5) hosts Corsica/Stickney today at Mitchell Christian School.
