Firefighters battling Mitchell house fire

Mitchell firefighters were battling a house fire at 219 E. Seventh Ave. Monday afternoon in Mitchell.

Mitchell firefighters were battling a house fire at 219 E. Seventh Ave. Monday afternoon in Mitchell.

The fire started just before 2:30 p.m. in the home and thick black smoke could be seen billowing from the structure shortly after.

Mitchell fire crews used two engines and the ladder truck to dampen the blaze.

The area around the house was closed to traffic for several blocks.
