FORT PIERRE — The Mitchell Marlin Bantam A boys’ hockey team defeated Oahe 7-6 in overtime Saturday in Fort Pierre.
Bryce Geraets, Spencer Neugebauer, who scored the winning goal, and Matt Muth each scored two goals in the win. Jacob Thill also had one goal and two assists for the Marlins. Muth, Neugebauer and Jesse Grosdidier had one assist apiece.
The Capitals outshot the Marlins 40-30 and Mitchell goalie Josh Loecker made 34 saves.
USD knocks off South Dakota State 74-71

VERMILLION — Juevol Myles scored 22 points, overshadowing a record-setting night by Nate Wolters, as South Dakota defeated South Dakota State 74-71 Saturday.
The Coyotes (7-10, 3-2 Summit) led by 20 points early in the second half before hanging on to defeat South Dakota State (11-6, 2-2).
Wolters scored 26 points in the losing effort to become the Jackrabbits’ all-time leading scorer with 1,943 career points. He surpassed Mark Tetzlaff’s mark of 1,931 set from 1981-85.
Brandon Bos added 16 points for South Dakota, including a 3-pointer to open the second half to put the Coyotes ahead 45-25.
SDSU women defeat USD 72-60

BROOKINGS – The South Dakota State women’s basketball team defeated in-state rival South Dakota 72-60 Sunday in Brookings.
SDSU won its fifth straight game and was led by Ashley Eide, who had a game-high 22 points. Megan Waytashek tallied 15 points and six rebounds in the win.
USD had three players score in double figures in Tempestt Wilson with 19 points, Nicole Seekamp with 15 and Polly Harrington with 14. Wilson had a game-high seven rebounds.
Both teams shot 48 percent from the field and SDSU shot 80 percent from the free-throw line. USD was 13-of-18 for 72 percent from the free-throw line.
Oahe shuts out Marlin boys

FORT PIERRE — The Mitchell Marlin boys’ hockey team was shut 9-0 by Oahe Saturday night in Fort Pierre.
The Capitals scored five goals in the first period, three in the second and one in the third. Austin Wagner scored four goals and had one assist in the game.
Mitchell had 23 shots on goal to Oahe’s 41.
Mitchell had two goalies in the net. Weston Gauger made 12 saves and allowed six goals. Tate Sutherland made 20 saves and allowed three goals.
The Marlins are back in action against Huron at 8:15 p.m. Friday at the Mitchell Activities Center.
