Howard crowns three champions, wins team title at Miller Invite

MILLER — The Howard wrestling team took the team title and had three first-place finishers at the Miller Invitational Saturday.

Howard finished with 170.5 points and was followed by Faulkton Area (153), McCook Central/Montrose (141), Groton Area (115) and Miller/Highmore-Harrold (114.5).

Howard’s Bailey Neises (113) pinned MCM’s Carl Bruening in 38 seconds in the finals. Luke Loudenburg (120) defeated MHH’s Michael Weidenbach 5-1 to claim the title.

Evan Donahue (138) won by fall over Ipswich/Leola’s Alex Marsh in 2 minutes, 32 seconds.

Howard’s Cole Hodges (126), Adonis Ruml (126), Tanner Henkel (152), Nick Pardy (182) and Kurt Zulk (285) all had third-place finishes for the Tigers.

MCM had four wrestlers make the finals in Bruening, Trent Llunders (126), Tad Reiner (195) and Robert Hoiten (220).

Reiner was the only champion of the group, beating Matt Schlosser by major decision 14-2.
