Spearfish gets OK for water storage tank loan

PIERRE — The city of Spearfish received the OK for a state loan Friday to pay for a new water storage tank.

PIERRE — The city of Spearfish received the OK for a state loan Friday to pay for a new water storage tank.

The money also will be used to lay 4,200 feet of water main to connect it to the community’s drinking water system.

The state Board of Water and Natural Resources approved a loan for $3.254 million. The loan would be for 10 years at an interest rate of 2.25 percent.

The tank will have a capacity of 2 million gallons.

The current system isn’t sufficient for the 10,494 population.
