The Corn Palace is offering reserved tickets for the Hanson Classic Jan. 12 in Mitchell.

Tickets are for courtside, front row seats and are available on a first come first serve basis.

The tickets are good for all eight games, and those interested in purchasing tickets may contact the Corn Palace ticket office at 605-995-8430.

Matchups for the girls’ basketball games will be released Monday.

Registration still open for girls’ youth volleyball

The Mitchell Parks & Recreation Department is still taking registration for third- through sixth- grade girls’ volleyball.

The program is held from 3:45 to 5 p.m. and begins Monday.

Those interested can sign up at the Recreation Center or online at cityofmitchell.org. For more information, call Kevin DeVries at 605-995-8450.

N. Dakota State men rout South Dakota 92-66

VERMILLION — Marshall Bjorklund scored 23 points, grabbed eight rebounds and North Dakota State shot nearly 64 percent from the field in a 92-66 win over South Dakota on Thursday night.

Bjorklund sparked an 8-0 run to begin the game with two quick lay-ups and North Dakota State (12-3, 3-0 Summit) never looked back. The Bison shot 63.8 percent from the field, making 37 of 58 attempts including 10 3-pointers and out-rebounded the Coyotes 32-20.

North Dakota State dominated inside the paint, outscoring South Dakota 46-22.

Taylor Braun scored 14 of his 19 points in the first half for the Bison, Mike Felt had 15 points while hitting five 3-pointers and Jordan Aaberg had 12 points.

Casey Kasperbauer led South Dakota (6-9, 2-1) with 15 points by hitting five 3-pointers and Brandon Bos scored 14 points.

The two teams combined to hit 19 shots from beyond the arc.

Wolters, S. Dakota State beat UMKC

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Nate Wolters scored 23 points and Jordan Dykstra added 21 on Thursday night as South Dakota State coasted to a 77-61 victory over UMKC.

South Dakota State (11-5, 2-1 Summit) got a balanced all-around game from Wolters, who also had seven assists, six rebounds and four steals. Most of Dykstra’s points came from long range, as he hit five 3-point baskets.

Chad White chipped in with 14 points.

UMKC (4-11, 1-3) got 14 points and five assists from Thomas Staton, 12 points from Nelson Kirksey and 10 points from Estan Tyler.

South Dakota State hit nearly 51 percent of its shots from the floor and had a 14-8 scoring advantage through turnovers.
