Freeman man injured in New Year's crash

FREEMAN — A Freeman man was injured in an early-morning accident Tuesday near the intersection of 278th Street and 438th Avenue northwest of Freeman.
Alexander Thomas, 30, sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries when he crashed the 2003 Ford Taurus he was driving north on 438th Avenue around 1:45 a.m. Tuesday, according to South Dakota Highway Patrol Trooper Dan Podzimek.
Podzimek said Thomas lost control on the gravel road, went into the ditch and crashed the vehicle. He was transported to the Freeman hospital with a head injury.
Podzimek said the vehicle was a total loss, and charges against Thomas are pending.
