Pauline Whirley, 102, of Armour, died Friday, Dec. 28, 2012, at Platte Care Center, Platte.

She was born Oct. 4, 1910.

A private funeral service will be held in Armour. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Paola Cemetery, Paola, Kan. Arrangements are by Koehn Bros. Funeral Home, Armour.

Pauline Whirley was born to Joseph and Bertha (Mann) Huber in Pomeroy, Iowa. She spent most of her childhood in Rantoul, Kan., where she attended grade school and graduated from Rantoul High School. She enjoyed her work as a bookkeeper. She married Fred Whirley on Nov. 27, 1930, in Webber, Kan. Together they lived in McPherson, Kan., from 1931 to 2007. She was a life-long member of the Presbyterian Church in McPherson. She enjoyed volunteering at the local nursing homes. Her pastimes were reading, knitting and cooking.

She is survived by a daughter, Fran Harrington of Armour; grandchildren, Douglas Whirley of Kansas City, Kan., Brad (Candy) Whirley of Kansas City, Kimberly Whirley of Kansas City;, daughter-in-law, Sue (Fred) Huse of Lenexa, Kan.; grandchildren, William (Jackie) Harrington of Corsica, Janette Moller of Sioux Falls, Marlene (Jeff) Cleveland of Corsica, Timothy (Dionne) Harrington of Armour, Daniel (Tracy) Harrington of Platte, Steve (Amy) Harrington of Armour; 15 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband Fred; brother, Manley Huber; sisters, Ann Mountain and Marcella Fulmar; one granddaughter and one great-granddaughter.
