Things to remember
PHEASANT HUNT FUNDRAISER SET: The Mount Vernon American Legion pheasant hunt fundraiser will start with a noon to 1 p.m. sign-in on Saturday, Jan. 5, at the Rosewood Barn Hunting Lodge in rural Mount Vernon.
Cost is $100 per person. A safety video is included in the sign-in. Following the hunt, there will be a Rocky Mountain oyster and chislic feed at the Mount Vernon Legion, for a free-will donation. Proceeds will go to support Mount Vernon Legion baseball.

Today in local history
On this date in 2007, Davison County Equalization Director Kathy Goetsch said agricultural land in the county could be under-assessed by 50 percent.
Goetsch said the situation is part of a statewide problem regarding the assessment of ag land that’s skyrocketing in value.
