According to the Rural Life Census Data Center at South Dakota State University in Brookings, Davison County ranked 10th in counties with the estimated greatest number of uninsured individuals in 2006. The number in Davison County was 1,956. Minnehaha County ranked first with 14,343.
Today in local history
On this date in 2011, it was reported that Mitchell’s Dakota Discovery Museum had unveiled its latest fundraising campaign with hopes of gaining public support.
The museum’s fundraiser — called the Community Challenge Campaign — arose after two anonymous contributors pledged to combine to match $5,000 in public donations to assist in funding the museum’s day-to-day operational expenses.
