Fire destroys hunting bus on farm near Pierre

Operators at a guide service jump-started the bus Monday and left the engine running unattended.

PIERRE (AP) — Authorities say a bus used to transport hunters was destroyed by fire on a farm near Pierre.

Pierre Rural Fire Department Chief Jason Roggow says operators at a guide service jump-started the bus Monday and left the engine running unattended.

Roggow tells the the media the engine compartment caught fire and spread to the rest of the bus.

The chief says the bus was a total loss.
