GLAD YOU ASKED: Extra holiday garbage can be set by brown containers for week

Q. What are the garbage rules for the holiday extra garbage? How much extra garbage can be put out and set by the garbage and/or could we use our green bins for the overflow for the next two weeks?

Q. What are the garbage rules for the holiday extra garbage? How much extra garbage can be put out and set by the garbage and/or could we use our green bins for the overflow for the next two weeks?

A. Ron Olson, the city of Mitchell’s street, sanitation and landfill superintendent, provided this response by email for city of Mitchell garbage customers.

“For the week immediately following Christmas, we collect the additional garbage that is generated from family gatherings at no additional charge. City garbage customers can just set their extra garbage next to their brown container and it will get collected.

“During the week following New Year’s, there will also be a special collection for Christmas trees.”
