Holiday closings set; no paper published on Christmas Day or New Year’s Day

The Daily Republic will not publish on Christmas Day, Monday, or New Year’s Day, the following Monday.

The newspaper’s offices also will be closed those days.

Following are some other local holiday hours and closure announcements.

• James Valley Community Center, Mitchell, will be closed Monday and Tuesday in observance of the Christmas holiday.

• Dakota Wesleyan University offices will be closed Monday and will reopen at 8 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2. Classes will resume at 8 a.m. Monday, Jan. 7. Java City, within the McGovern Library, will be closed until Jan. 7.

The McGovern Library is closed through Jan. 1. The holiday hours are as follows: closed today through Jan. 1; open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Jan. 2-4; closed Jan. 5-6; and open 7:30 a.m. to midnight, Jan. 7.

• Mitchell Technical Institute will be closed Monday and Tuesday in observance of the Christmas holiday. Offices will be open Dec. 26-28 and Dec. 31. Offices will be closed Jan. 1 in observance of the New Year’s holiday. Regular office hours will resume Jan. 2.

• Both Tuesday’s and Wednesday’s garbage will be collected on Wednesday, Dec. 26, due to the celebration of Christmas. The Mitchell Regional Landfill will close at noon on Dec. 24 and reopen at 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 26. Dependable Sanitation will follow the city schedule.

• Mitchell Public Library holiday hours are open Monday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; closed Tuesday; open 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday, Dec. 26-27; regular hours Friday, Dec. 28, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and regular hours over the weekend; Monday, Dec. 31, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; closed New Year’s Day. Regular winter hours will resume on Jan. 2.

• The Davison County commissioners will not meet Tuesday due to the Christmas holiday.

The commission’s final meeting of 2012 will be at 9 a.m. Thursday in the Commissioners’ Room at the courthouse.

• The Mitchell Recreation Center Holiday Hours: Monday, Christmas Eve, 6 a.m-noon; Tuesday, Christmas Day — Closed; Wednesday, Dec. 26 — Opening at 8 a.m.
