WISCONSIN DELLS, Wis. — The Dakota Wesleyan women’s basketball team improved to 11-4 on the season as it defeated Ashford University 72-44 Thursday.

Head coach Jason Christensen said the defensive effort was key in the matchup.

“Our defense sparks our offense, and that’s why we were able do well offensively,” he said. “Our defense held a really good team.”

DWU recorded nine steals in the game, while Ashford tallied two. Christensen said he was also pleased with how his team, which had nine turnovers, handled the ball.

The Tigers had three players in double-scoring figures. Celeste Beck led all players with 24 points. She made four of DWU’s eight 3-pointers. Kim Johnson scored 16 points and Brittany Hills chipped in with 11.
