A two-vehicle accident resulted in multiple injuries Tuesday night, according to authorities.
Mitchell Police Officer Ryan Titze said around 6:15 p.m. Tuesday, Weston Gauger, 16, of Mitchell, driving a 1999 Buick Regal, and Michael Pick, 50, of Sioux Falls, driving a 1999 Freightliner box truck, collided at the intersection of Main and North Harmon streets.
Officer Titze said Pick was southbound on Main, or Highway 37, and Gauger westbound on 38th Street/North Harmon. Titze said Gauger stopped at the intersection, but did not see Pick’s vehicle, which struck Gauger’s as it crossed Main Street.
Titze said Gauger and two passengers sustained injuries; one passenger was transported by ambulance to Avera Queen of Peace Hospital with unknown injuries.
Gauger, with minor injuries, and the other passenger, with unknown injuries, were taken by family to Avera Queen of Peace, according to Titze.
Alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
Charges are pending.
