A Sioux Falls woman was cited on the charge of careless driving following a three-vehicle accident Monday evening in Mitchell.
Davison County Sheriff’s Deputy Tim Reitzel said Brooke Hoffle, of Sioux Falls, driving a 2006 Ford Fusion, ran into the back of a 2006 Ford Explorer, driven by Vedene McKittrick, of Mitchell, while she waited at the stoplight at the intersection of Burr and Ash streets.
Reitzel said the force of the impact caused McKittrick’s vehicle to run into the back of another vehicle waiting to turn at the intersection, a 2011 Chevy Malibu, owned by the city of Mitchell and driven by Mitchell Police Officer Terance Reyelts of Mitchell.
Reitzel said all the drivers were wearing seat belts, and there were no injuries. Damages to the city’s vehicle were minor, to McKittrick’s vehicle were what Reitzel described as “functional,” and were “disabling” to Hoffle’s vehicle, which the deputy said had to be towed away from the scene.
