First National Bank South Dakota in Mitchell has selected the Mitchell Snack Pack program as its charity project for the holidays.
The program is designed to meet the needs of hungry children at times when other food resources are not available, such as weekends and school vacations.
The bank’s employees have started the collection by contributing $250 from First National Bank South Dakota’s Pay to Wear Jeans on Friday Fund.
The bank is encouraging customers to help by bringing in snack-size cereal, fruit cups, juice boxes, boxes of macaroni and cheese and cans of chicken with rice meals, cans of ravioli, jars of peanut butter and crackers. Cash donations are accepted as well. Just $5 each week fills a backpack with healthy snack food for a child. Donations will be accepted through Dec. 31.
