MVHS juniors selling cookie dough to raise funds

The Junior Class of Mount Vernon High School is selling cookie dough to raise money for the prom. The dough is pre-portioned and comes in a box.
There are six different varieties. Each box contains 48 cookies and sells for $16. The cookie dough campaign will end Jan. 4 with delivery the week of Jan. 21.
If you would like to order any cookie dough and have not been approached by a junior, you may contact the school at 236-5237 and ask for Ms. Beach. Thank you in advance for your participation.
The activities beginning today include:
Today, the K-6 Winter Concert will be held at 7 p.m. in the Tom Young Community Center.
Tuesday, the Mount Vernon/Plankinton Titans girls’ basketball team will host Platte/Geddes in Plankinton with a C game followed by a JV game at 6:30 p.m. and the varsity game at 8 p.m.
Thursday, the Titans boys’ basketball team will host Dakota Christian at Plankinton with a JH game beginning at 5:15 p.m. a JV game at 6:30 p.m. followed by the varsity game at 8 p.m.
Friday is the end of the first semester of the 2012-2013 school term. Another reminder that local author Jean Patrick will be at the Mount Vernon school at 10:15 a.m. in the Tom Young Community Center. All are invited to attend. School will be dismissed at 1:30 p.m. to begin Christmas vacation.
Dec. 27, the boys’ varsity wrestling team will participate in an invitational at McCook Central High School beginning at 10 a.m.
Dec. 28, there will be a boys’ basketball C tournament at Montrose High school beginning at 9 a.m. There will be a boys’ JV basketball tournament at Tri-Valley High school at 10 a.m.
Dec. 29, the boys’ varsity basketball team will play Parkston in the Parkston Classic. The girls JV basketball team will play Hanson in a tournament at the Hanson School at 8:30 a.m.
Dec. 31, there will be a girls’ basketball C tournament at Hanson School beginning at 8:30 a.m.
Jan. 3, school resumes. The Titans girls’ basketball team will travel to Wessington Springs for a C game, a JH game at 5:15 p.m. a JV game at 6:30 p.m. and a varsity game at 8 p.m.
Jan. 4, the Titans boys’ basketball team will host Wessington Springs in Plankinton with a C game, JH game at 5:15 p.m., a JV game at 6:30 p.m. and a varsity game at 8 p.m.
Jan. 5, there will be a girls’ junior high basketball tournament at Mount Vernon. The girls JV team will play in the CBH Tournament in Mount Vernon at 9 a.m.
There will be a boys’ varsity wrestling tournament in Chamberlain.
There will be a boys and girls doubleheader in Plankinton with Sanborn Central/Woonsocket with the JH boys and JH girls playing at 1 p.m. The boys’ C team will play at 2:30 p.m. the girls’ varsity team at 5 p.m. and the boys’ varsity team at 5:30 p.m.
St. Michael’s Catholic Church of Mount Vernon will have a soup and sandwich supper from 5 to 7 p.m. on Jan. 20.
Since this is my last column for 2012, I would like to congratulate the citizens of Mount Vernon for the fine job of decorating our community for the holidays and would like to wish each and every one a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
