Herrick, Parr lead Mitchell at Warrior wrestling tourney

SIOUX FALLS — Alex Herrick (132) and Ethan Parr (138) each took second place at the Warrior Invitational wrestling tournament Saturday.

SIOUX FALLS — Alex Herrick (132) and Ethan Parr (138) each took second place at the Warrior Invitational wrestling tournament Saturday.

Herrick, a junior, had a pin and a major decision en route to the title match where he was pinned in the first period.

Parr, a sophomore, had two decision wins to get to the championship match. He was pinned in the second period.

Mitchell finished in eighth place out of nine teams with 92 points at the tournament. Rapid City Central claimed the team championship with 242.5 points.

Mitchell had six other indi-viduals earn spots on the podium, including third-place finishes by Riley Heck (220) and Robert McCardle (285). Matt Larson (145) took fourth, Tanner Vilhauer (126) earned fifth place and Trey Hohn (120) and Preston Skinner (195) each took sixth.

The Mitchell wrestling team is back in action in an Eastern South Dakota Conference dual against Huron Thursday at Huron Arena.
