Chamberlain hospital has new CEO

CHAMBERLAIN — Sanford Chamberlain Medical Center announced Friday that Erica Peterson became its new chief executive officer effective Nov. 5. Peterson replaces Maureen Cadwell, who left in August.

Peterson was chief financial officer at Sanford Chamberlain. During that time, Peterson assumed leadership over multiple campus departments and was instrumental in the construction of the new long-term care facility. As CEO, Peterson assumes a full-time role overseeing the strategic direction of Sanford Chamberlain.

“With her background as an administrator and her proven ability in establishing relationships, we are delighted to have Erica lead our medical center,” said Ed Weiland, Sanford Health Network president. “She has the expertise and leadership skills to continue the tradition of care already provided by the physicians and staff at Sanford Chamberlain.”

Peterson earned her bachelor’s degree in agricultural economics at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Okla., and her master’s in business administration at the University of South Dakota.

Peterson is active in the Chamberlain community, serving on the board at Treehouse preschool and is a member of the Kiwanis Club and Zion Lutheran Church. Peterson is also an active member of the South Dakota Association of Healthcare Organizations.

Sanford Chamberlain is a 25-bed hospital that employs nearly 200 people. Sanford Health is a health system headquartered in the Dakotas and is now the largest, rural, not-for-profit health care system in the nation with locations in 126 communities in eight states.
