PLATTE — Brianna Erickson had a double-double to lead Platte-Geddes over Gregory 65-26 in a high school girls’ basketball game Friday.
PLATTE — Brianna Erickson had a double-double to lead Platte-Geddes over Gregory 65-26 in a high school girls’ basketball game Friday.
Erickson scored 17 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in the win. Shelby Rabenberg scored 15 points. Josie DeGroot totaled 15 points and eight steals. Kelly Knudson finished the game with nine steals and six assists.
Platte-Geddes made 28 of its 81 field goals attempts and went 6-for-23 from the free-throw line. Platte-Geddes is 2-1 and plays Mount Vernon/Plankinton Tuesday in Plankinton.
Courtney Opbroek led Gregory with 10 points and six rebounds. Allison Sundquist grabbed seven rebounds and Briana Leber added six.
The Gorillas made six field goals on 26 attempts and one free throw for 10 attempts. The 0-4 Gorillas host Lyman Dec. 29.

Parkston 49, Chamberlain 46
PARKSTON — Parkston was victorious over Chamberlain after trailing for the first three quarters in a girls’ basketball game Friday. The final score was 49-46.
Erica Herrold scored 12 points and grabbed eight rebounds for Parkston. Sadie Schoenfelder and Jordan Bormann scored eight points apiece in the win.
Parkston shot 13-of-39 from the field and 18-of-20 from the free-throw line. Parkston totaled 13 rebounds and eight turnovers. The 3-1 Trojans host Tripp-Delmont/Armour Monday.
Kennedy Wagner scored a game-high 18 points for the Cubs. Jaymee Knippling scored 11 points and tallied nine rebounds. Logan Pickner scored six points.
Chamberlain went 18-of-48 from the field and 9-of-16 from the free-throw line. The Cubs finished with 28 team rebounds and nine turnovers. Chamberlain is 2-1 this season and plays at Winner Tuesday.
Parkston won the junior varsity game.

HOWARD — McCook Central/Montrose held Howard scoreless in the third quarter as the Cougars went on to win 38-12 Friday.
Brianna Painter scored eight points for the Cougars. C.J. Ristesund added seven points. Rachel Bartscher and Ristesund had six rebounds apiece.
McCook Central/Montrose shot 14-of-38 from the field and 10-of-13 from the free-throw line. The Cougars had 26 team rebounds and 20 turnovers.
Kelsey Dawson scored eight points and recorded six rebounds for Howard. The Tigers went 6-of-34 from the field and 0-of-2 from the free-throw line. Howard totaled 19 rebounds and 25 turnovers.
McCook Central/Montrose is 3-1 and hosts Tea Area Monday in Montrose. Howard is 0-3 and plays Sanborn Central/Woonsocket Monday in Forestburg.
McCook Central/Montrose won the junior varsity game 31-19.

HARTFORD — Wagner recorded its first loss of the season as the Red Raiders fell to West Central 59-47 Friday.
Hunter Matthew scored 17 points for West Central.
Jessa Doom led Wagner with 19 points and 13 rebounds. Nicole Webber added 12 points. Wagner went 13-of-39 from the field and 17-of-32 from the free-throw line. The Red Raiders accumulated 37 rebounds and committed 29 turnovers.
West Central (1-2) hosts Elk Point-Jefferson Tuesday, while Wagner (3-1) hosts Dakota Christian tonight.

Hanson 83, Menno 52
MENNO — Five Hanson players scored in double digits, leading to an 83-52 win over Menno in a girls’ high school basketball game Friday.
Cassidy Graham and Erika Nelson each had 12 points to lead the Beavers, who made 31 of 47 shots from the field. Kelli Wenande had 11 points and Leah Marsh and Kynedi Cheeseman each had 10 points.
Lindsi Dey had six of Hanson’s 29 rebounds. Kendra Cheeseman added five assists and Graham and Kynedi Cheeseman each had four steals.
Hanson, which also won the JV game, was 11-of-22 from the free-throw line and had 19 turnovers to Menno’s 30.
Menno was led by Christina Herrboldt’s 14 points. Kylee Kessler had eight points and six rebounds and Abby Herrboldt had nine points. Ashton Diede had five assists and two steals.
Menno was 16-of-34 from the field, 13-of-20 from the free-throw line and had 18 rebounds.
Hanson (4-0) hosts Marion Tuesday in Alexandria, while Menno (1-3) plays Freeman Academy Thursday in Freeman.

HOWARD — Brandon Reif scored 21 points as McCook Central/Montrose defeated Howard 68-49 Friday.
Jake Heumiller scored 13 points for the Cougars and led the team in assists with 11. Will Gottlob scored 10 points, while Billy Kapperman scored 10 points and grabbed eight rebounds.
MCM shot 23-of-52 for 44 percent from the field and 17-of-23 for 73 percent from the free-throw line. The Cougars accumulated 34 rebounds and 11 turnovers. The 2-1 Cougars host Chester Area Tuesday in Salem.
Steve Larsen was the scoring leader for the Tigers with 14 points. Landon Laible and Cole Potter each scored nine points. Larson led the team with five rebounds.
Howard shot 20-of-43 from the field and 6-of-8 from the free-throw line. The Tigers totaled 21 rebounds and 16 turnovers.
Howard is 1-2 and plays Sanborn Central/Woonsocket Monday in Forestburg.

SCOTLAND — Scott Van Winkle scored 17 points to lead Bon Homme over Scotland 57-36 Friday night in boys’ basketball action.
Scott Wieseler added seven points and led the team in rebounds with six. Van Winkle recorded six steals and five assists in the win. Hunter Young totaled six steals.
Bon Homme made 22 field goals on 64 attempts and totaled 19 rebounds and eight turnovers.
Jared Kloucek scored 12 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for Scotland. Tanner Skorepa added 10 points. Anthony Walloch scored eight points and had three assists. Shaye Bloch recorded six rebounds and nine assists for the Highlanders.
Scotland shot 16-of-35 from the field. The Highlanders accumulated 32 rebounds.
Bon Homme (2-2) plays at Dakota Christian Tuesday in New Holland. Scotland (0-3) plays at Chamberlain Dec. 22.

Spencer Lucas led Parkston’s scoring with 14 points. Kyle Hohn added 10 points, while Jalen Hurley had 10 rebounds.
Parkston shot 16-of-50 from the field and 12-of-29 from the free-throw line. The Trojans had 34 rebounds and 18 turnovers.
Skyler Bertram scored 12 points for Chamberlain. Gage Basting added 10 points and recorded seven rebounds. Reuben Estes tallied seven steals.
Chamberlain shot 19-of-60 from the field and 5-of-11 from the free-throw line. The Cubs totaled 32 rebounds and 18 turnovers.
