Members of the Mitchell Lions Club and The Servicemen’s Memorial Cemetery Association stand in front of a newly installed large bronze eagle sculpture Wednesday morning at the Servicemen’s Memorial Cemetery in Mitchell. The sculpture, which sits atop a columbarium, was paid for by donations from the Mitchell Lions Club, including special donations by members Merv Iverson, Lyle Swenson and the Vernon Merriman Memorial Fund. Anyone wishing to make donations to help pay for statues at the cemetery can send money to Servicemen’s Memorial Cemetery, P.O. Box 15, Mitchell, S.D.
