Huron man gets prison for having lots of pot

A Huron man was sentenced Tuesday to three years in prison for possession of 1 to 10 pounds of marijuana.

Justin McAllister, 34, was arrested March 14 in the parking lot of Marlin’s I-90 Restaurant in Mitchell. He pleaded guilty Aug. 21 to possession of between 1 to 10 pounds of marijuana.

“This isn’t the usual and ordinary possession of marijuana case,” Judge Rodney Steele said.

McAllister was allowed to report Friday for transport to prison in order to complete a treatment program he is currently enrolled in.
