Sioux Falls-based Mixed restaurant owner and concept creator, Cole Shawd, a Mitchell native, has launched his national restaurant franchise concept, Mixed Places.

Mixed is a fast, casual restaurant that specializes in made-to-order. Shawd, 29, said the Mixed concept is about providing a unique, healthier and “green” dining experience for each of its customers.

Mixed also uses eco-friendly serving dishes such as chilled stainless steel bowls and bamboo plates. Plus, all of its paper products are compostable or recycled.

Shawd founded the first Mixed in 2010 at its current location on South Louise Avenue in Sioux Falls. The first franchised location will open in Omaha, Neb., in February.
