DWU men sign 2 soccer players

The Dakota Wesleyan University men’s soccer head coach Jeremy Tosaya announced the signing of two recruits Monday.
Samuel Roberts, of Papillion, Neb., is forward and helped lead his team to fourth place at the state tournament.
Derek Granum, a Brookings native, is transferring from the University of Sioux Falls. The midfielder started in 10 games and scored one goal for the Cougars this season.
The recruits join the roster in the fall of 2013.
MAC swimmers qualify for state

SIOUX FALLS — The Mitchell Aquatic Club had two swimmers qualify for the state tournament during the Snowfox Candy Cane Classic, which was Friday through Sunday, in Sioux Falls.
Abbey Grajkowske and Maryssa Gerhke both qualified in the 8 & Under Girls’ Division. Grajkowske and Gerhke qualified in the 50-meter backstroke, and Gerhke also qualified in the 25-meter backstroke.
Ethan Huber also broke two MAC records in the 11-12 Boys’ Division at the meet in the 50-meter backstroke and the 100-meter backstroke.

Tiger football players earn academic honors

Dakota Wesleyan football players Tyler Severson, Josh Thompson and Skyler Eriksen were given Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athlete honors Tuesday.
Severson, a senior history education major, maintained a 3.56 grade point average, while playing in seven games this season. Defensive back Thompson, a junior biology major, has a 3.79 GPA and had 48 tackles, one interception and a team-high 13 pass breakups on the field this season.
As a junior elementary education major, Eriksen has a 3.73 GPA. On the field, the Presho native is a member of the DWU offensive line.
Student athletes must have a minimum of a 3.5 GPA to be eligible for the Daktronics NAIA-Scholar-Athlete honor.
SDSU coach to talk at QB club

The Mitchell Quarterback Club will meet at 7:30 tonight at the Depot.
Coaches from Mitchell High School and Dakota Wesleyan University will be speaking. The special guest will be Brian Cooley, assistant men’s basketball coach at South Dakota State University.
