Jennetta Neugebauer, 90, Ethan, died Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012, at Aurora Brule Nursing Home, White Lake.

Jennetta Neugebauer, 90, Ethan, died Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012, at Aurora Brule Nursing Home, White Lake.

She was born on Oct. 26, 1922.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. John Lutheran Church, rural Dimock. Burial will be in St. John Lutheran Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Bittner Funeral Chapel, Mitchell.

Jennetta Neugebauer was born at Corsica, Douglas County, to Ben and Minnie (Beukelman) Wiersma.

She attended country school and did housework at a young age.

She attended NYA School at White Lake for four years, did café work and was employed at Mitchell Produce and Morrows Produce in Armour.

On Feb. 19, 1952, she married Lewis Neugebauer at St. John Lutheran Church, rural Dimock.

To this union, they were blessed with five children.

They farmed south of Mount Vernon for three years, then moved to a farm west of Ethan.

As a wife and mother, she spent many hours skillfully cooking, baking, mending and canning. She can be remembered spending time outdoors in the yard and caring for her chickens.

She cherished artifacts, especially of her family and community and loved to save mementos of the past to share with others.

Her pastimes included looking through family pictures, preparing scrapbooks and sewing.

She was a longtime member of St. John Lutheran Church.

She is survived by four children: Sharon and husband Howard Weischedel, Plankinton; Janice and husband Ron Junge, Rapid City; Connie and husband Robert Bruske, Ethan; Larry Neugebauer, Ethan; a daughter-in-law, Kathy Neugebauer, Ethan, 11 granddaughters, three grandsons, one great-granddaughter, two great-grandsons, two brothers: Andrew Wiersma, Armour; and William Wiersma, Mitchell; one sister, Frances Holzhauser, Mitchell; and a sister-in-law, Evelyn Wiersma, Viborg.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis, of 54 years, in 2005; her parents, her son, Roger, in August 1994; her brother, Arie Wiersma, in October 1994; an infant brother, a sister-in-law, Wanda Wiersma; a brother-in-law, Raymond Holzhauser; and a nephew, Dennis Wiersma.
