Mother of 1st surviving set of quints in US dies in Aberdeen hospital

ABERDEEN (AP) — The woman who gave birth to the first surviving set of quintuplets in the United States has died.
Schriver's Memorial Mortuary and Crematory says Mary Ann Darling Fischer passed away at Avera St. Luke's Hospital in Aberdeen on Sunday. She was 79.
The media reports that Fischer gave birth to four girls and a boy — Mary Ann, Mary Magdalene, Mary Catherine, Mary Margaret and James Andrew — on Sept. 14, 1963.
Fischer's funeral is scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Aberdeen.
