Kimball/White Lake 59, Mount Vernon/Plankinton 56
WHITE LAKE-- The Kim-ball/White Lake boys’ basketball team opened its season with a 59-56 win over Mount Vernon/ Plankinton.
Jesse Taylor led the WiLdkats offense with a game high 17 points. Jacob Kirsch 14 points and Kyle Peters added 9 for KWL who shot 43.9 percent from the field. Taylor and Kirsch also led the WiLdkats in assist with 3 apiece.
Mount Vernon/Plankinton dominated the boards finishing with 38 to KWL’s 17. Cote Hinker was the games’ leading rebounder with 11.
Jared Long led the Titans in scoring with 16 points. Kellam Karst was not far behind with 15. Deric Denning added 13.
Kimball/White Lake (1-0) will head take on Mitchell Christian Thursday in Mitchell. MVP (0-1) will travel to Ethan on Tuesday.

Platte-Geddes 45, Dakota Christian 35
NEW HOLLAND— Hunter Johnson recorded a double-double to help lift Platte-Geddes to a 10-point victory over Dakota Christian both teams season opener.
Johnson tallied 12 points and 10 rebounds. Richard Sternberg scored a game high 13 points and added four assist.
The Black Panthers shot 33 percent from the field and finished with 38 total rebounds 10 of which were recorded by Matthew Randall.
Dakota Christian was led by Carter Dykstra who recorded a team high nine points and added 7 rebounds. Darren Fallis and Jake Spoelstra scored eight points as the Cadets made 13-27 two-point field goals.
Platte-Geddes (1-0) will play Andes Central Monday in Lake Andes. Dakota Christian (0-1) will return to action on Thursday when they travel to Ethan.

Sanborn Central/Woonsocket 70, Sunshine Bible Academy 49
WOONSOCKET— Sanborn Central/Woonsocket kicked off its 2012-2013 basketball season with a 21-point win over Sunshine Bible Academy.
Three SCW players scored in double figures. Nick Miller led all scorers with 19 points while Davion Brooks scored 13 and Drew Hinker added 10.
Sanborn Central/Woonsocket shot 46 percent from the field while SBA shot 30.
The Crusaders were led by y Brockel who finished with a double-double. Brockel had a game high 18 rebounds and 10 points. Chebueze Eberuch also scored 10 points and tallied 9 rebounds.
Sanborn Central/Woonsocket will play Tripp-Delmont/Armour Thursday in Armour. SBA (0-1) will take on Faulkton Tuesday in Faulkton.
