SEWARD, Neb. —Turnovers proved costly for the Dakota Wesleyan women’s basketball team as it fell to Concordia University 78-58 in a Great Plains Athletic Conference matchup Saturday in Seward, Neb.

“The kids played hard, but we just had too many turnovers,” DWU head coach Jason Christensen said of his team’s 29-turnover performance. “I am sure Concordia played a part in that as well, but I thought we played hard and competed well overall.”

The Tigers shot at a 42.9 percent clip, while the No. 1-ranked Bulldogs shot 37.9 percent. Although DWU shot a higher clip from the field, Concordia outshot the Tigers from behind the arc. The Bulldogs shot 45.5 percent while DWU shot 21.1 percent.

Bulldog Lori Laboda recorded a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds.

“We play in a really strong conference night in and night out, and you have to be tough if you want to win in the GPAC,” Christensen said.
