MOUNT VERNON — Two Mount Vernon residents were arrested Nov. 27 after police allegedly found traces of methamphetamine on a pipe inside their apartment.
Joshua Samuel Johnson, 25, and Sara Ann Claggett, 32, are charged with possession of methamphetamine, a felony, and possession of drug paraphernalia, a misdemeanor.
The charges stem from a police search of the couple’s apartment, located in a basement at 104 South Earl St., during which two pipes and scale were found in a wooden box. One of the pipes field-tested positive for methamphetamine, a police affidavit says.
Johnson and Claggett both face a maximum of 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine for the meth charge and 30 days in jail and a $500 fine for the paraphernalia charge.
Both were scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.
