Sheriff says car not tied to area burglary

PLANKINTON — A car parked outside a Plankinton convenience store minutes before it was burglarized was not tied to the crime.
Aurora County Sheriff David Fink said the silver car, which was shown in The Daily Republic Tuesday in a photo released by the sheriff, has no connection to the crime.
“It’s a coincidence,” Fink said. “It’s not associated with the burglary.”
He said the owner of the car contacted him Tuesday. The owner stopped for air minutes before the burglar bashed out the front door to gain access.
Fink said it appears “the bad guy” was nearby when the car stopped for air. He thinks the suspect was across the parking lot, and broke into the business three or four minutes after the car left.
The burglary took place shortly after 4:30 a.m. at Roadside 66 on Plankinton’s Main Street. The man pried open three video lottery machines and stole an undetermined amount of cash.
The suspect is believed to be a white male, around 5 feet 10 inches tall and between 30 and 40 years old.
