Brookings man pleads not guilty to drug-related charges

Police found him intoxicated and walking in a ditch in the rain and snow.

A Brookings man pleaded not guilty Tuesday to one felony drug charge and other related misdemeanors.

Brian Egeberg , 29, was arrested Oct. 25 in Mitchell after police allegedly found him intoxicated and walking in a ditch in the rain and snow. He was taken to jail at the Davison County Public Safety Center for a detox hold, and a metal pipe with burnt marijuana residue and a small white pill were allegedly found in his pocket.

Egeberg faces a maximum of 10 years in prison and a $20,000 fine for possession of a controlled substance, a felony. He is also charged with possession of less than 2 ounces of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and ingesting, all misdemeanors.
