A 21-year-old Mitchell man pleaded no contest Tuesday to a reduced charge for his role in a Sept. 9 car fire in Mitchell.

Matthew Hart pleaded no contest to one count of accessory to felony for helping his 22-year-old brother, Jeremiah Hart, of Huron, and 18-year-old Patrick Red Legs allegedly start a stolen car on fire in the 900 block of West Second Avenue.

Matthew Hart had been charged with more severe charges, but those were reduced by prosecutors in exchange for his plea. He now faces a maximum of five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
