Lower Brule man pleads guilty to spitting on officer

LOWER BRULE — A 29-year-old Lower Brule man pleaded guilty Thursday to assaulting, resisting or impeding a federal officer.

LOWER BRULE — A 29-year-old Lower Brule man pleaded guilty Thursday to assaulting, resisting or impeding a federal officer.

James Ewing Jr. faces a maximum of one in year in prison and a $100,000 fine for resisting an officer with the Bureau of Indian Affairs. Ewing spit in the officer’s face during the arrest. Ewing was remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service. A sentencing date has been set for February.
