A Rapid City man was arrested Nov. 23 in Mitchell after a Davison County deputy found half a pound of marijuana in the man’s vehicle during a traffic stop.

Andrew Schorzmann, 26, was stopped by Davison County Deputy Steve Harr on state Highway 37 near Mitchell for a broken headlight. During the stop, Harr noticed the smell of marijuana coming from Schorzmann, who, when questioned, admitted to Harr that he smoked a joint while pheasant hunting earlier in the day, Harr’s affidavit says.

Schorzmann was arrested for ingesting marijuana. During a search of Schorzmann’s vehicle, Harr reported finding half a pound of marijuana, a scale and a glass pipe with burnt marijuana residue in it.

Schorzmann faces a maximum of five years in prison and a $10,000 fine. He is scheduled to appear in court later this month.
