SIOUX FALLS (AP) — A scholarship is being established in memory of a Sioux Falls salon manager who was shot and killed outside the business in September.
Authorities say 24-year-old Amanda Connors was killed while trying to protect an employee from the employee's boyfriend. They say Tyrone Smith killed Connors, then held his girlfriend and her co-workers hostage inside the Cost Cutters Salon for about a half hour before killing himself.
The salon on Monday was donating haircut proceeds to the scholarship fund in Connors' honor at the Stewart School of cosmetology.
